Personal, Social, Health and Economic Education (PSHE)

Personal, Social, Health and Economic Education (PSHE) learning and development is fundamental to the children’s developmental journey, their understanding of the world around them and their recognition of their own self-worth as citizens.

We cover all aspects of the statutory and non-statutory guidance on the strands linked to PSHE to ensure all pupils are the most knowledgeable, confident and self-fulfilled individuals they can be. We aim for our children to know more, understand more and remember more about themselves and the world around them.

We recognise that PSHE is a vital part of our curriculum and is taught weekly by class teachers. Our PSHE units are carefully sequenced and planned using the PSHE Association’s programme of study, which ensures full coverage of the three core strands: Health and Wellbeing, Relationships, and Living in the Wider World. This ensures children receive a broad, balanced, and age-appropriate education that equips them with the knowledge, skills and values they need to thrive.

Through these units, children learn about keeping themselves physically and mentally healthy, forming and maintaining positive relationships, staying safe both in the real world and online, and understanding their role as responsible citizens in modern Britain. We also incorporate opportunities for children to discuss topical issues, celebrate differences, and develop their sense of respect, empathy, and resilience.

PSHE is not only delivered through discrete lessons but also woven into wider aspects of school life, assemblies, enrichment activities, and our wider curriculum. This holistic approach ensures that our pupils can apply their PSHE learning in meaningful contexts and develop the confidence to make positive, informed choices.
