Yet again Year 5 children enjoyed a full, varied and informative day at FARMWISE. They explored many ways the food we eat gets from source to fork. They had the opportunity to make, bake, eat and drink a variety of products, for example; smoothies using pedal power, sausages from scratch, fish cakes, bread, biscuits, butter, and more. Their senses were challenged by trying to identify herbs and plants through touch and smell and they observed the milking of a cow and shearing of a sheep. Planting potatoes and examining Giant African snails were also on the itinerary. Witnessing chicks hatching and holding some only a few hours old was a highlight.
There was so much more but, sadly too much to report on.
